Zen mode! 😅

My mum told me this Zen story, stuck with me:

2 monks were walking this long road to a particular destination, where they reach this river, to go ahead they need to cross the river. In a similar situation was a girl on the other side, but she couldn’t walk through. Now monks are not supposed to touch women. After a little pondering one of the monks crosses the river, picks her up, drops her on the other side, and then re crosses the river with his colleague.

Now this other monk, couldn’t stop thinking about this and after hours of walking silently finally asks “why did you do it? Why did you carry her? We are not supposed to! “ and the friend smiles and replies “your still carrying her? I left her at the river bank.”

We do this don’t we? Carry the weight of so much unnecessary shit on our minds! It was so simply put, and such a small story, but they’re right. The one monk had just carried that lady till the bank, done a nice thing, right intentions, and left her, and the other one carried her with him for so many hours, just thinking, pondering.

What other people do, is not your problem! Stop making it. They did it, they’ve moved on, but your still standing there over analyzing why they did what they did! Really will it matter in a bit!

Your friend ditched you 5 years back, does it really matter today, think about it, but it’s still occupying space in your head, your still not talking to him/her! Let go!

Life’s too short and we as people have so much potential, but 45% of our brain usage is generally occupied with all this.

Imagine the possibilities! :)
