The Alchemist!

Trying to catch up on reading, or actually revisit the old books that I already have. There’s something completely different about having a physical book in hand, the smell of the pages, the feel of the book in the hand....

Started or more like re-started with The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Have read this book 3 times (this one being the third) and I pride myself in remembering stories, not word for word, but the gist of it. This is one book that is a wonder to me! Every time I read it, it’s like am reading a new story, grasping different things from it, understanding things I might or might not have understood earlier.

So this time, Santiago (the protagonist) through his journey, made me realize that the start and end of your story do not at all matter, it’s the inbetweens that make life worthwhile.

Past and future, the sorrow of the past and the fear of the future are only feelings that make us miss out on the present. We need to live in the moment, give our full attention to everything that’s happening now, cause this moment is all we have control over.

A few words or phrases that are omnipresent in the story are:

If you want something with all your heart, the whole world conspires for you to get it.

Maktub- it is written!

The soul of the world being one.

Books like The Alchemist remind you that, possible and impossible are all in our own head. Love will never come in the way of what makes you happy, cause if it does, it wasn’t love. And most of all, follow your heart, your dreams, even with the hurdles, because just stopping and thinking will make you only put up soo many walls, so many ifs and buts, that you’ll never cross that bridge, and finally one day in life if you think you’ll have your chance, that day you might not have the will to cross it anymore.

Follow your dreams, love wholly, and happiness will be waiting there, around the corner. :)
